Mark Wahlberg on Uncharted Movie

Mark Wahlberg- the rapper turned actor/producer best known for his hit single “Good Vibrations” (and, you know, the billions of dollars his movies have grossed over the years)—has confirmed to MTV that he is set to star in the big screen adaptation of the game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. David O. Russell (The Fighter, I Heart Huckabees) has already confirmed that he will direct the film based on a screenplay that he is currently writing.

This would mark the third collaboration between Wahlberg and Russell. The pair first worked together on the 1999 film Three Kings, and the duo just completed work on The Fighter, which stars Wahlberg and Christian Bale and is set to open across the country on December 10.

“The idea that [Russell] has is just insane. So hopefully we’ll be making that movie this summer.”
Wahlberg also confirmed rumors that both Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are in negotiations to appear in the film as well.

“That’s who he wants to write the parts for. I talked to Pesci about it and I know David’s people have talked to [Robert De Niro].” Whalberg told MTV. “I’m obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It’s not going to be the watered-down version, that’s for sure.”

The news ends the fan campaigns supporting actors Nathan Fillion and Joe Flanigan. Fillion had tweeted his desire to star in the film, while the Flanigan movement seems to have been generated by fans before taking on a life of its own.
