Mark Wahlberg on Uncharted Movie

Mark Wahlberg- the rapper turned actor/producer best known for his hit single “Good Vibrations” (and, you know, the billions of dollars his movies have grossed over the years)—has confirmed to MTV that he is set to star in the big screen adaptation of the game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. David O. Russell (The Fighter, I Heart Huckabees) has already confirmed that he will direct the film based on a screenplay that he is currently writing.

This would mark the third collaboration between Wahlberg and Russell. The pair first worked together on the 1999 film Three Kings, and the duo just completed work on The Fighter, which stars Wahlberg and Christian Bale and is set to open across the country on December 10.

“The idea that [Russell] has is just insane. So hopefully we’ll be making that movie this summer.”
Wahlberg also confirmed rumors that both Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are in negotiations to appear in the film as well.

“That’s who he wants to write the parts for. I talked to Pesci about it and I know David’s people have talked to [Robert De Niro].” Whalberg told MTV. “I’m obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It’s not going to be the watered-down version, that’s for sure.”

The news ends the fan campaigns supporting actors Nathan Fillion and Joe Flanigan. Fillion had tweeted his desire to star in the film, while the Flanigan movement seems to have been generated by fans before taking on a life of its own.

Uncharted Movie Confirmed, to be directed by David O Russell

David O. Russell has closed a deal to write and direct "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune," an adaptation of the 2007 PlayStation 3 video game, for Columbia Pictures.

Back in May, Russell first flirted with the project, but then moved on to develop a big-screen adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies."

But his quest to direct the PS3 game adaptation pulled him back in, leaving "Zombies," for the moment, undead.

Despite making his somewhat combative reputation with left-of-center indie films such as "Spanking the Monkey," "Flirting With Disaster" and "I Heart Huckabees," Russell appears to be making a serious move into bigger-budget mainstream movies. His next film, the boxing drama "The Fighter" from Paramount, comes out December.

In the mold of epic adventure films like "Tomb Raider" and "Indiana Jones," the "Uncharted" game's storyline follows a descendant of Sir Francis Drake, Nathan Drake, as he searches for the treasure of El Dorado on a desert island with a friend and a female journalist.

The game itself was developed by Naughty Dog and is one of Sony Computer Entertainment's best-selling games for the PS3. It sold one million copies in the first 10 weeks of its release at the end of 2007 and went on to sell 2.6 million copies and spawn an even more successful sequel, "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves."

"Sahara" writers Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer wrote earlier versions of the screenplay.

Avi Arad, Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are producing the film, which was announced by Columbia presidents Doug Belgrad and Matt Tolmach, the latter of whom said, "David is a tremendous choice to take on this film. He's equally adept at combining all the classic elements involved in this property: great character development, strong comedy and amazing action sequences. He has a brilliant vision for this material and we know he will bring his original, unique voice to this adaptation."

"Uncharted" will be overseen for the studio by Tolmach and Jonathan Kadin.

The CAA-repped Russell most recently co-wrote and directed the comedy "Nailed," which is yet to be released. He has another original story, "Old St. Louis," in development with Vince Vaughn's production company, Wild West Picture Show Prods.

Bhairav (भैरव)

KAAL BHAIRAV (काल भैरव)

Most of the Drake's mysterious adventure lies behind this statue. One of the important statue seen often in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is that of "Bhairav(भैरव)", an ancient sacred god of Hindu and Buddhists. Another appearance of Bhairav is the "Kaal Bhairav(काल भैरव )", also a fierce manifestation of Shiva, associated with annihilation. In the Kathmandu valley Bhairava is an important deity of the Newars. Most of  the temples of Bhairava in Nepal are still maintained by Newar priests.

The above image is that of The "Kala Bhairava" in Hanuman Dhoka (Durbar Square) sculpted in the 17th century CE. It was believed that people die if they speak false in front of that sculpture. It is 16-feet stone idol, the only of this type, started breathing life after the famous and powerful tantriks of those days instill life in it.
